Hector Encalada Sanchez came from a very poor family and began working when he was 7 years old. By the time he was 22 years old he was the manager in his uncle Manuel`s general store.

Hector Encalada came from humble beginnings and worked very hard all of his life. He was a hard worker who saved every penny he could.

He began by buying a small piece of land. He was one of the first farmers to plant bananas in el Oro , Ecuador. As time went by he saved his money and bought land. He formed his own company. Today that company has 1000 hectares of banana plantation in full production.

Since 1954 we have been producing, harvesting and packing our fruit for well know brands.

After over fifty years in the banana business, Hector Encalada died in February 25, 2006  at the age of 81. He worked hard every day until the day he died.

We wanted to give our company the face of a real banana farmer, and for that reason we have put his face on our label.
