Don HES Premium Bananas is a brand that was born from the idea to create a tribute to a pioneer banana farmer in Ecuador.  HES are the initials of Hector Encalada Sanchez, who was one of the first farmers to plant bananas in the Provence of El Oro.  The brand logo was taken from a picture of Hector Encalada Sanchez during a lunch break on a hard day of work.  The label with his photo appears on our bananas and carton.
Six months after Hector’s death, his children began to export bananas in refrigerated containers directly to Europe. The ports of destination: Denmark, Norway, England and Spain.
